Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you reserve a time to join a shorter ride queue at Walt Disney World. You buy it from Disney in My Disney Experience, often called MDE. These three tools help you find and book available times after that purchase.
Standby combines Booking Assist with live wait times in one iPhone app. Wait Magic is Thrill Data’s booking and modification service. Standby Skipper is a separate mobile booking app. Each offers a different mix of tools for your trip.
You still need park admission and the right Disney pass. An app cannot create availability or guarantee a ride. Standby Booking Assist supports eligible Walt Disney World Multi Pass rides. It does not book Disneyland, Single Pass, or Premier Pass.
Lightning Lane booking in a full park-day app
Add your existing Multi Pass plans, then choose the rides you want to watch. As your party uses its selections, Booking Assist looks for the next booking everyone can use. You can also ask it to find an earlier time for a supported reservation.
Between rides, check live waits and get alerts when a wait drops or a ride reopens. Follow Live Activities on your iPhone. These park-day tools cover 20+ parks, including Universal and Disneyland. Booking Assist is for Walt Disney World only. Access to features depends on your pass.
How Standby books Lightning Lanes
Buy Multi Pass from Disney, then use Standby to manage eligible bookings for your selected guests.
1. Buy Multi Pass in the MDE app
Purchase Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass yourself in the My Disney Experience app. Standby does not sell Multi Pass and does not make the initial 7:00 AM selections.
2. Link with Friends & Family
Connect your account in the Standby iPhone app. Choose eligible guests from your Friends & Family friends list. You do not give Standby your Disney password.
3. Bring your plans. Build your watchlist.
Import supported Multi Pass reservations and choose other rides to watch. Adding a ride to your watchlist does not reserve it. Standby can book only when every selected guest is eligible and has room for another selection.

What Standby Booking Assist does not do
It does not buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass, make the initial 7:00 AM selections, book Disneyland attractions, or book Single Pass or Premier Pass. It does not override Disney’s eligibility rules. Treat a ride as reserved only after the booking is confirmed in your plans.
Common questions about these Lightning Lane apps
Is Standby the same as Standby Skipper?
No. They are different companies. Both can book Lightning Lane Multi Pass after you buy it and link My Disney Experience. Standby Booking Assist does that inside the Standby iPhone app. Standby Skipper is a dedicated Lightning Lane booking app, including Android.
Can Standby improve reservations I booked myself?
Standby imports supported active Multi Pass reservations. It keeps your booked time unless you turn on Earliest / Watch Earlier. It can then look for an earlier time until your booked start is 30 minutes away. A search does not guarantee a change.
Do any of these tools skip the line for free?
No. Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a Disney product you purchase separately. These tools only help with eligible bookings you are already allowed to make.
How does Wait Magic work?
Thrill Data Wait Magic lets you choose rides and the times you want. Connect through its Friend Connector and hold an active Thrill Data Plus membership to run bookings or changes. Buy Multi Pass and make your initial selections in My Disney Experience first. Wait Magic can then seek new bookings or change existing return times. It can also change the time of a Single Pass you already bought; it does not buy that pass for you.
How does Standby Skipper work?
Buy Multi Pass from Disney and connect through Friends & Family. In Standby Skipper, pick a ride, a return-time range, and the guests to include. Start the search. The app looks for an eligible booking and sends a notification when it books. Its FAQ says it handles day-of searches; you make your advance selections in My Disney Experience.
Is Standby Skipper worth it?
It may be worth the extra cost if you want help with day-of Multi Pass searches and would rather spend less time checking your phone. It may add less value if you are happy booking in My Disney Experience yourself. Compare the current price and covered dates with how often you expect to use it. You still pay Disney for Multi Pass, and no app guarantees the rides you want.
Standby Skipper vs Wait Magic: what is the main difference?
Changing existing bookings is a key difference. Standby Skipper’s FAQ directs you to My Disney Experience to change a booked time. Wait Magic supports changes to existing Multi Pass and purchased Single Pass times, including before your visit. Standby Booking Assist can seek earlier times for supported Multi Pass reservations and adds live waits and park alerts in the same iPhone app.
What should I look for in Standby Skipper reviews?
Look for recent trip dates, the parks visited, party size, and which rides were actually booked. Check whether the reviewer paid for access or used an affiliate link. Separate ease of use and time saved from claims about guaranteed rides. Older Genie+ reviews may describe a different Disney system. This page compares published features; it is written by Standby, not an independent hands-on review of its competitors.
